About Me

Writer's picture: Salute Life PhotoSalute Life Photo

Talking about myself is not the easiest thing for me to do. I usually am pretty forthcoming about everything except personal information. But I’m going to try to get as vulnerable, up close and personal as I can get with this blog.

My name is Katie Messer. I am married with a daughter and three fur babies. They are all amazingly awesome in their own unique ways. My husband is a critical care flight paramedic in the US Army and I couldn’t be a more proud wife. He was my world until the greatest gift was given to us this summer. Our daughter Freya brings out all the emotions that I couldn’t have imagined feeling before now. I never knew how much I could love and live until I had her. It has opened my eyes wider than I thought possible. That has been a blessing. I have to remember to thank her one day. She has made me fall in love with photography all over again.

I have always loved to take pictures of my surroundings. I have a background in black and white photography where I have developed my own pictures, rolled my own film and even oil painted my own black and whites to create a color effect. I first started when I was pretty young in high school and college. I would say I fell out of touch with it when I became the lead supporter to my husbands career. I would never change anything because it has lead me to the path I’m forging for myself now.

My favorite subjects just happen to be the little moments between loved ones. I also really love the details in landscapes. The magic in between poses is hands down the best part of taking photos. I love really capturing who people are, getting to know their personalities and freeze framing their raw emotions.

Salute life is the name of my business because I want my photos to really show off how important it is to have those little moments. Those are the times to remember. Life goes by fast but we can slow it down ever so slightly to capture the subtle looks the tender kisses, the gentle touches and the forever lovely memories.

Honor these precious times with a lifetime keepsake for not only you to remember and enjoy but for generations to remember and enjoy. Let them tell the story of you and your most beautiful life. I would be honored to help in that journey that will last many lifetimes over.

Setbacks falls and uncertainty

The other day I let something evil crawl in my head. I had fallen back into a way of thinking I hadn’t had in quite a while. When I was...
